Klaro ("the app") is a mobile app that helps you understand the tone of a conversation by analyzing a screenshot you choose to upload. This page explains what data the app handles and how.
Klaro does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide your name, email, or phone number to use the app. To support the optional invite-friends feature described below, the app is assigned a random anonymous identifier in the background โ this happens automatically, with no sign-in screen, no credentials, and no personal information involved.
When you submit a chat screenshot for analysis, the image is sent securely to our backend, which forwards it to a third-party AI service to generate the analysis (tone, flags, and suggested replies). The image is used only to produce that one result and is not stored afterward by us or knowingly retained by the AI provider beyond what is needed to serve that request.
The result of an analysis (the AI's text output), any person labels you create (e.g. a name or nickname you assign to a conversation), and your scan history are stored locally on your device only, in the app's local database. This data is never uploaded to our servers for storage, and we cannot see it.
You can permanently delete everything at any time from Settings โ "Delete all my data". That clears the local database and erases the anonymous identifier and invite code described below from our server, including the anonymous account itself. It is immediate and cannot be undone.
If you uninstall the app, the local data is deleted along with it. The anonymous identifier is not removed by uninstalling, so use "Delete all my data" first if you want it gone.
Klaro offers optional paid subscriptions for unlimited use, billed and processed through the app store you downloaded Klaro from. A third-party subscription management service is used to keep track of your subscription status; it receives an anonymous, device-generated purchaser identifier and your purchase/subscription events (e.g. which plan, renewal status) โ it does not receive your name, email, or payment details, which are handled directly by the app store.
Klaro has an optional "Invite a friend" feature: sharing your invite code with someone earns you bonus scans for that week when they install the app using it. To support this, the app creates the anonymous identifier mentioned above and stores it on a secure backend server together with a short invite code, so that a successful invite can be recognized and the bonus granted. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal information, and cannot be used to identify you. It is created automatically the first time you open the app, not only when you open the invite-friends screen, and "Delete all my data" erases it.
Klaro does not show ads, does not use advertising identifiers, and does not sell or share your data with data brokers or advertisers. The app does not track you across other apps or websites.
Klaro is a general-audience app. It is not directed at children, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and the app has no feature built for or aimed at children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, get in touch from the support page and we will delete it.
Analyzing a screenshot is always something you start yourself. The app asks for your consent on a separate screen every time, right before an image is sent, and nothing leaves your device unless you tap to confirm on that screen. Backing out of it is all it takes to refuse, and refusing once does not affect anything you did before.
If this policy changes, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
Questions about this policy, or a request to delete data, can be sent from the support page. Every message reaches us directly and we reply to the address you leave there.
